Join Be The Ones as a Campus Get Out The Vote Canvasser this fall!

Talk with students on your campus. Help them get the voting information they need. Make voting feel a little easier.
The program is currently active on the following campuses: College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina University, Claflin University, SC State, USC, and Clemson. Students do not need transportation or have to travel off campus but do need to be an enrolled student at their school.
Application takes less than 5 minutes. Spots are limited.
WHAT WILL I DO?
It’s pretty simple: talk to other students.
During a 90-minute shift, you and a canvassing buddy will walk around busy areas of your campus and have short, friendly conversations with other students.
You might help someone:
Check their voter registration
Make a voting plan - figure out when + where they’re voting
Provide them with vote-by-mail information
Share answers to basic voting questions
This is a nonpartisan program which means you are not telling anyone WHO to vote for, it is to help them know HOW to vote.
THE DETAILS
💰 PAY: $30 per completed 90-minute shift
⏰ SCHEDULE: Sign up for one shift or multiple that work with your schedule
📍 LOCATION: Your campus. No transportation needed.
👯 BUDDY SYSTEM: You’ll always canvass with another student or small group, never alone.
⚡ TRAINING: We will get you trained + ready! A 30-minute (virtual) training is required before your first shift.
🙌 EXPERIENCE: None! We give you the training, materials and support you need.
💸 PAYMENT: Sent within 2 business days after your completed shift
WHERE ARE WE CANVASSING?
Across the following campuses: College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina University, Claflin University, SC State, University of South Carolina, and Clemson University.
No car or transportation needed + no off-campus travel required. Your shifts will take place on or immediately around your campus.
We’ll work with each campus team to identify the best high-traffic locations and times to canvas.
Additional campuses may be added.
WHY DO IT?
College students have a lot going on. Sometimes voting just needs to move from:
“Oh yeah, I need to figure that out.” to: “Okay. I have a plan.”
A short conversation with another student can make that happen - especially when we meet them where they are - literally!
And you’ll help build a campus where voting is visible, social and something students do together.

It's important to us that our canvassers reflect the diversity of the communities and campuses we serve. Young people, people of color, justice impacted, disabled, first-generation students, and LGBTQ+ folks are strongly encouraged to apply. If you do not identify as such, you're still invited to apply and your application will still be considered!
One important rule: Be The Ones is a nonpartisan organization, and this is a strictly nonpartisan program. That means while canvassing, you will not advocate for or against any candidate or political party, tell someone who to vote for, or try to persuade someone toward a particular political choice. We’re here to help our peers participate — not tell them how to vote.
